At The Development People we are passionate about what we do; we take the time to understand, build relationships and trust, we then identify needs and develop plans to build people’s skills and knowledge.
We aim to deliver sustainable results by embedding learning, creating behavioural change and providing tools/resources for long after we have left.

We support general practice to find better ways of working through people and processes that benefit both the practice and the patient. We have worked within Primary care, specifically General Practice, since 2015, designing and delivering training and development solutions.

We pride ourselves on being able to learn about the challenges and provide creative solutions that 'join up the dots'.

Recent evidence confirms that the volume and complexity of work in General Practice have both risen considerably in the past few years.

The pressure this creates has been compounded by growing challenges with the supply of doctors and nurses.

That is why the General Practice Forward View, published in April 2016, called for significant new investment to grow capacity in General Practices.

However, research commissioned by NHS England also shows that at least 19% of GP workload might be better handled by someone other than the GP. Helping Practices to manage their workload better is therefore a high priority.

We worked together with selected practices to understand the challenges and opportunities GP surgeries face, and following working group sessions and trials, we have developed a number of business improvement programmes for General Practice with demonstrable success.
Practice+ is our bespoke practice development programme where we work with General Practices at a close, individual level.

We take a coaching approach to support staff engagement and identify areas for improvement, develop and implement plans of action.
Frontline+ is our flexible GP Reception training programme, the aim of this programme is to develop the skills and capabilities of Reception staff to improve the practice’s efficiency and effectiveness.
Here you will find a suite of modules designed specifically for your frontline staff.
Lead+ is our leadership development programme, specifically designed for managers at all levels within general practice.

The programme is made up of workshop modules designed for new and existing managers.
PForm+ is our unique performance development approach and system.

Developed specifically for General Practice, the PForm+ approach (and supporting software) will not only increase productivity but also save valuable management time, improve employee engagement, encourage standardised behaviours across your practice - all while supporting the CQC Well-led criteria.
Navigation+ contains a suite of options designed to introduce and develop signposting within practice. Its aim is to assist Practice Managers to build a plan and framework for introducing and/or developing signposting and the navigation process in practice.

This can be achieved through a bespoke change management programme designed specifically for Practice Managers, or a fully supported in-house programme that focuses on embedding signposting across the practice.
